3216522605_5c267b2216I know I know, maybe it’s not very “pc” to feature one of our very own photopol.us photographers for the Friday Art Star, but we think she deserves some spotlight. She’s got limitless energy for doing what she loves, and surrounds herself with fellow artists to make the DFW photog community a better place. Ange shoots portraits and curates art shows for good causes. Her work can currently be found at Kettle Art, 9th St. Townhomes, Elbow Room, and Mokah Coffee Shop. Her next do good art auction will be at The UltraViolet Rockshow & Silent Art Auction – May 9th @ Club Dada raising money for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Photopol.us hearts her and is proud to have her as part of the team! Note from Ange about the upcoming Ultraviolet show: ***I’m in charge of collecting Art Donations for the Silent Auction to benefit the CFF.org, so am on the lookout for any artists out there who might be willing to participate and give us their art to raise money to find a cure…. email angelina.fitzgerald@gmail.com***

When did you become interested in photography?

My grandmother noticed I had a talent for drawing at an early age and my parents enrolled me in adult art classes that were like, 3-4 hours long when I was in junior high (the last thing I wanted to be doing when I was a teenager) …I had no patience and quickly grew tired of drawing & painting still life & fruit & turned my attention to cameras, where you can get instant gratification.

What gear do you mainly use?

I shoot with “Dex”, my Canon 5D and “Six”, my 16-35mm wide angle lens. I do occasionally alternate “Six” with “Agent 15”, my 15mm fisheye. For close ups and portraits I use “Agent 135”, a 135mm fixed lens.

What is your favorite genre to shoot (Commercial, Portraiture, Conceptual, etc..)

I love shooting people and the challenge of coming up with outdoor locations that make interesting & attractive backdrops. I’m also a huge fan of kids – I’ve had lots of experience practicing on my nephews, Sam & Jack. If you know me, you know I am often shooting pics of myself at arms length w/ my friends and family, it’s something I picked up from my daughter. It makes me happy.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I can be inspired by shoe shopping, cupcakes, a book, a trip to home depot for pete’s sake. My family, especially my daughter and my nephews, my friends, films, magazines … other photographers are a huge inspiration to me. Lately I’ve been studying / admiring the work of Sally Mann.
