EZ Cambranis is an Expo Park photographer. He started taking photography seriously two years ago after being influenced by his sister Lupita and other friends and art teachers. He also tried to be a classical music singer, theater actor, ceramist but he admits that his real passion is to see things through a camera and printed himself at home.

When and how did you become interested in photography?

I was fascinated with photography when my sister showed me her first silver gelatin print. That was when she was attending college majoring in journalism about 11 years ago. I remembered that she took a photograph of a lady walking in downtown Campeche (Mexico) with a huge terracotta vase on her head. I was particularly observing every grain printed in the photographic more than the subject itself.

What gear do you mainly use?

I’m an Olympus guy, when shooting digital I use Olympus Evolt E-500, but my favorite camera is my old Olympus OM-1.

Many times photographers find themselves with a full schedule of paying gigs, and end up with little time for doing the work they truly love. Do you struggle with finding time for your personal work?

I’m a seasonal photographer, I mostly work on my photography during summer.

What inspires you?

Life.

What is your favorite genre to shoot?

Simple things: from street scenes to shadows in the human body.

Do you have any upcoming shows or events you want our readers to know about?

I’m moving to a new place in the White Rock Lake area, and I have to move my studio with me, so I don’t have anything planned. I use to show my artwork every last Thursday of the month during the Expo Park Open Studios.

What is one thing you feel makes your style or your work unique?

My own version of simplicity.
