Use a color, gradient or uploaded background image to establish the setting. For a custom scene brief, describe its light, surfaces and atmosphere so every visual choice supports the subject.
Check the composition
Position the subject and compare scale, perspective and lighting. Review edges and shadows rather than relying only on the overall impression. A restrained backdrop can make the subject clearer than a busy scene.
